HISTORY OF THE FACULTY OF COMPUTER SCIENCE: The educational program in the field of information and communication technology (ICT, Information and Communication Technology) at Sriwijaya University began when Unsri held a professional education and training program in the field of computer science at the Sriwijaya University Computer Center in 1985. Three years later Unsri started sent several lecturers to undertake Masters education in the field of information and communication technology both at home and abroad. Plans to open a Computer Diploma Program at Unsri began to be discussed intensively in July 2002. The seriousness of this plan was seen when the preparatory committee for the establishment of the Computer Diploma Program was formed. in October of that year. This committee experienced a change of chairman from Prof. Dr. Zulkardi, M.Ikom., M.Sc. who was appointed Head of the South Sumatra Provincial Government's Communications and Information Office, to Drs. Saparudin, M.T. who at that time served as Chair of the Unsri Computer Center UPT with several new members, namely Erwin, M.Si., Syamsuryadi, M.Kom and Ir. Iwan Pahendra Anto Saputra, M.T. With the commitment of the leadership and hard work of the committee, the establishment of the Unsri Computer Diploma Program was realized in August 2003 through the Director General of Higher Education's permission letter number 2275/D/T/2003 dated September 5 2003. In the 2003/2004 academic year, the Unsri Computer Diploma Program began accepting new students for three study programs, namely Informatics Management at DIII level, Computer Engineering at DIII level, Computerized Accounting at DIII level. Furthermore, through the Decree of the Chancellor of Sriwijaya University number 2984 RT/PT11.1.1/E/2003 dated September 8 2003. The Unsri Computer Diploma Program organizes the DI level Informatics Management study program. The Director of the Computer Diploma Program is Drs. Saparudin, M.T. Administrative, organizational, management, academic and student affairs activities are fully carried out at the Bukit Besar Palembang Campus whose physical infrastructure is the former Unsri Seminar Building in Bukit Besar Palembang which has been renovated. In line with the development of information and communication technology and the increasing need for workers in the field of information technology , in the 2005/2006 academic year based on the approval of the Directorate General of Higher Education number 2838/D/T/2005 dated 8 August 2005, Unsri opened two undergraduate study programs, namely Informatics Engineering and Computer Systems. These two undergraduate study programs are called the Sriwijaya University Computer Science Program with Director Drs. Saparudin, M.T., Assistant Director I Ir. Bambang Tutuko, M.T. and Assistant Director II Erwin, S.Si., M.Si. The Chair and Secretary of the Computer Diploma Program are respectively held by Dr. Darmawijoyo, M.Si. and Samsuryadi, S.Si., M.Kom; and the Chair of the Undergraduate Study Program is held by Ahmad Fali Oklilas, S.T., M.T., while the Chair of the DIII Study Program is held by Jaidanjauhari, S.Pd., M.T. Lecture activities for these two undergraduate programs are carried out entirely at the Indralaya Campus. One year later, the Unsri Computer Science Program added another Bachelor of Information Systems study program through permission from the Directorate General of Higher Education number 1919/D/T/2006 dated 13 June 2006. In the same year, the Unsri Computer Science Program also opened a superior Bilingual Informatics Engineering class which uses English. and Indonesian as the language of instruction in lectures held at the Bukit Besar Campus. After studying the academic text in the form of a self-evaluation from the Computer Science Program and Computer Diploma Program at Sriwijaya University, and the proposal for the establishment of a Faculty of Computer Science, the Director General of Higher Education on February 22 2006 issued a letter permit number 783/D/T/2006 concerning the opening of the Unsri Faculty of Computer Science with a self-financing and self-management management system. The principles of self-management and self-financing are as stated in the permit letter from the Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education. Based on these principles, the UNSRI Faculty of Computer Science is managed autonomously by prioritizing aspects of efficiency, productivity and accountability in the organization and management of faculty governance. Continuous improvement of quality, competitiveness and relevance in the implementation of education, research and community service. After several Sriwijaya University Senate meetings, finally on December 1 2006, the Sriwijaya University Faculty of Computer Science was officially established. After it was inaugurated, December 1 2006 is celebrated every year as the anniversary of the Unsri Faculty of Computer Science. The six existing study programs are grouped into three departments. The DIII Computer Engineering Study Program is academically under the Computer Systems Department, while the DIII Information Management and Accounting Computerization Study Program is under the Information Systems Department. Before the formation of the Faculty Senate, the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science was temporarily held by the Chancellor of Unsri. After the formation of the Faculty of Computer Science Senate, the first Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science was elected through a Faculty Senate meeting, namely Drs. Saparudin, M.T. with Assistant Dean I Ir. Bambang Tutuko, M.T., Assistant Dean II Erwin, S.Si., M.Si., and Assistant Dean III Samsuryadi, S.Si., M.Kom. In the current period 2016 to. 2020, the position of Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science, Sriwijaya University is Jaidanjauhari, M.T., Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs Samsuryadi, M.Kom., Ph.D., Deputy Dean for General Affairs and Finance Mgs. Afriyan Firdaus, M.IT., Deputy Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni Fathoni, S.T., MMSI. In the 2008/2009 academic year, the UNSRI Faculty of Computer Science opened a superior Bilingual Information Systems class and opened 2 (two) professional classes, namely Professional Information Systems and Superior Computer Systems. And in the 2015/2016 academic year based on Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education Decree Number 26/M/Kp/III/2015 dated March 20 2015 concerning permission to administer the Informatics Engineering Study Program Masters Program and Chancellor's Decree Number: 135/UN9/DT.Kep/2015 dated April 10 2015 regarding the opening and implementation guidelines for the Informatics Engineering Study Program Masters Program, the UNSRI Faculty of Computer Science has opened a postgraduate education program, namely the Masters in Informatics Engineering study program. And starting in 2019, according to the nomenclature of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, the Informatics Engineering Study Program, master's program, changed its name to the Computer Science Study Program, master's program.
