Submission of the Chancellor's Decree as well as the election of the Chair and Secretary of SAU for the 2024-2029 term
Chancellor of Sriwijaya University (Unsri), Prof. Dr. Taufiq Marwa, S.E., M.Sc. submitted a Decree regarding Members of the University Academic Senate (SAU) for the 2024-2029 Term of Service as well as holding the first senate meeting for the election of the Chair of the SAU which was held in the Meeting Room on the 2nd Floor of the Unsri Rectorate, Indralaya Campus, Thursday (14/11/2024).
In his remarks, the Chancellor said that the agenda for the inaugural meeting of the University's Academic Senate would be the election of the Chair and Secretary of SAU for the 2024 - 2029 term.
The Chancellor stated that based on Republic of Indonesia government regulation No. 32 of 2024 concerning Legal Entity State Universities that the Chair and secretary of the SAU as referred to in paragraph (1) letters a and letter b are held by SAU members who are representative lecturers. Then the SAU chairman and secretary as intended in paragraph (1) letters a and b are elected from and by SAU members. Furthermore, the Chair, secretary and members of SAU as intended in paragraph (1) are determined by the Chancellor. And the procedures for selecting the SAU chairman and secretary are regulated by the SAU Regulations.
The Chancellor further stated that SAU membership ends if: dies; end of term of office; resign; become a SAF member and/or lecturer with additional duties; continuous absence for more than 6 (six) months; and leaving duties without the leadership's permission for more than 3 (three) months.
"The SAU meeting for the election of the SAU Chairman and Secretary is chaired by the SAU interim leadership. The SAU interim leadership as referred to in paragraph 1 consists of one Chairman and one Secretary who come from the oldest and youngest SAU members present at the meeting. So the oldest SAU member "who was present today was Prof. Dr. Irwin Bizzy who will be the interim leader of SAU and the youngest, Dr. Ali Ibrahim, will be the interim secretary of SAU," said the Chancellor.
The election was through consensus deliberation which was attended by 47 SAU members who were present. From this deliberation, the chairman and secretary of SAU were elected, namely Prof. Dr. Dr. M. Zulkarnain, M.med.Sc., PKK., Sp.DLP. from the Faculty of Medicine who was elected as Chair of SAU and Prof.Dr. Rinto, S.Pi., M.P. from the Faculty of Agriculture was elected as Secretary of SAU for the 2024-2029 term.
"I would like to thank you for your trust in agreeing to elect me as Chair of SAU, God willing, hopefully together we will be able to provide the best for our beloved Sriwijaya University, so that under the leadership of the current Chancellor, Unsri will quickly accelerate to become "It's better, but it all requires our cooperation together, with our unity, God willing, we can provide the best for Sriwijaya University," said Prof. Dr. Dr. M.
