Sriwijaya University (Unsri) held a flag ceremony in commemoration of National Education Day (Hardiknas) with the theme "Moving Together to Continue Free Learning" which took place solemnly and orderly at the Unsri Rectorate Field, Indralaya Campus, Thursday (2/5/2024). Unsri Deputy Chancellor I for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Rujito Agus Suwignyo, M. Agr. as the ceremony supervisor delivered a speech by the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Nadiem Anwar Makarim. In the text of his speech, the Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture expressed his congratulations on National Education Day and invited them to continue working together to enliven and continue the Independent Learning movement. After reading the remarks of the Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture, Deputy Chancellor I conveyed some information, including about the implementation of the SNBT entrance exam which was taking place simultaneously throughout Indonesia. "For us Unsri, this exam is the first entrance exam to be held on the Indralaya campus. The Chancellor took the policy to carry it out at Indralaya. New computer equipment has been prepared and thank God the implementation according to schedule can run smoothly and successfully. We all realize that in accordance with "The Chancellor's tagline is "UNSRI OUR HOUSE" if we carry it out together, God willing, everything can be done well," said Prof Rujito. Prof. Rujito further said that Unsri's struggle since March 2022 to become a PTN-BH has almost yielded results. He said that the Government Regulation document regarding PTN-BH Unsri was already on President Jokowi's desk. "Thank God, we have gone through the evaluation process at the Higher Education, the preparation of the RPP at the Ministry of Education and Culture, as well as discussions between ministries, namely the Ministry of Education and Culture, Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform, Ministry of Finance, and the State Secretariat and we have passed and we have been declared qualified and worthy to become one of the PTN-BH in Indonesia. "God willing, we will become the 22nd or 23rd PTN-BH with UNJ Jakarta," he said. Before closing his speech, Deputy Chancellor I conveyed the achievements achieved by Unsri. In front of the ceremony participants he said that recently Unsri received an honor from the results of the ranking evaluation in the Times Higher Education - World University Ranking system, Unsri was ranked 1501st in the world, ranked 601st at the Asian level, and ranked 21st in Indonesia. In the Scimago Institution Rankings for several fields of science, Unsri is ranked in the top ten in Indonesia, namely, number 1 in the field of Biochemistry, Genetics and molecular biology, number 4 in the field of Chemistry, number 6 in the field of Mathematics, and number 9 in the field of Medicine. "Let's congratulate this success and hope that in the future other fields of science will also become top ten in Indonesia," concluded Prof Rujito. This ceremony was attended by the Deputy Chancellor, Chair and Secretary of SPI, Dean and Deputy Dean, Director and Deputy Director of Postgraduate Programs, Chair and Secretary of LPPM and LP3MP, Head of BAK, BUK, and BPHM, Director of BPU, Head of UPT, Lecturers and Staff at Unsri environment.
