The 12th National Suboptimal Land Seminar in 2024 Center for Research on Sriwijaya University Suboptimal Land Development (Pur-PLSO)

The Center for Suboptimal Land Development Research (Pur-PLSO) of Sriwijaya University on Monday, October 21, 2024 held the 12th National Seminar on Suboptimal Land with the theme "Sustainable Suboptimal Land Revitalization Based on Precision Agriculture and Empowerment of Millennial Farmers". The seminar was held in a mix (blended), the implementation of the luring was held at the Beston Hotel, Palembang and online through the Media Zoom Meeting. This annual national seminar was held in the framework of the 64th UNSRI Anniversary and the 61st Dies Anniversary of the Faculty of Agriculture. Rector of Sriwijaya University, Prof. Prof. Dr. Taufiq Marwa, SE., M.Sc. Opening the seminar by delivering welcome speech, followed by four keynote speakers, namely 1) Prof. Dr. Ir. Benyamin Lakitan, M.Sc., (Sriwijaya University Agronomy Expert), 2) Prof. Dr. Ir. Caribu Hadi Prayitno, Ipu, Asean Eng. (Animal Husbandry Expert University of General Soedirman), 3) Prof. Dr. Ir. Slamet Budi Prayitno, M.Sc., (Diponegoro University Fisheries Aquaculture Expert, and 4) Prof. Dr. Ir. Siti Herlinda, M.Sc. (Head of Pur-PLSO Sriwijaya University). The seminar was also attended by the Vice Chancellor of Unsri, Deans in the Unsri Environment, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Unsri (Dr. A. Muslim, M.Agr Faculty of Agriculture Unsri (Herpandi, S.Pi., M.Sc., Ph.D.). The Chancellor of Sriwijaya University is pleased to open the event officially and give appreciation to the leading center of the Suboptimal Land Development Research (Pur-PLSO) which is headed by Prof. Dr. Ir. Siti Herlinda, M.Sc., for her hard work and loyalty for 12 years, which consistently held this national seminar on an ongoing basis as an annual activity. The Chancellor in his remarks also said that the achievement of food and energy security for the welfare of the community as a new government priority at this time, was a joint task including agricultural people to make it happen. The National Seminar on Sub -optimal land is a form of contribution of our thinking to increase agricultural productivity in achieving national food security. The Faculty of Agriculture at Sriwijaya University in his remarks emphasizes the optimism of the success of revitalization and optimization of suboptimal land supported by the development of agricultural technology known as the precision agriculture and the empowerment of millennial farmers will be able to answer food problems and even realize global food self -sufficiency. Agricultural images that are sometimes minor can be overcome with precision agriculture, among others, through the application of artificial intelligence (artificial intelligent) and internet of thing (IoT), mechanization and other technological developments that are expected to be able to efficient input and processes and maximize output in agricultural systems. The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture also expressed full support for the implementation of subotimal land seminas as part of the achievement of the vision of the Faculty of Agriculture. According to the Deputy Chairman of the Committee Prof. Dr. Sofia Sandi, S.Pt., M.Sc., this seminar featured 139 papers, and was attended by approximately 500 people including supporters, participants, and invitations from lecturers, researchers, practitioners, government and observers of agriculture. Supporting speakers in parallel sessions originated from 17 provinces in 6 islands in Indonesia, including the provinces of North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Bengkulu, South Sumatra, Jambi, Lampung, Bangka Belitung Islands, Kalimantantimur, Southeast Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Maluku, DKI Jakarta, West Java, East Java and East Nusa Tenggara. The sub-themes raised include: 1) Cultivation of plants, fish and livestock, 2) environmental management, 3) social, economic and cultural, 4) handling, processing and supervision of food, 5) agricultural technology and 6) information systems and innovation digitalization in the smart farming industry. Appreciation and appreciation given by Pur-PLSO of Srivijaya University to 9 speakers and 14 best presenters at the end of the activity. For the best papers given to: M. Edi Armanto (Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University), Fitra Gustiar (Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University), Nanik Setyowati (Faculty of Agriculture, Bengkulu University), Bakri (Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University), Yunita (Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University), Asri Cahyati Sriwijaya), Seviyanti Ningrahayu (Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University), and Ade Nabila (Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University). The Best Presenter or Best Presenter was given to: Marlin Sefrila (Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University), Efan Fatra Jaya (Faculty of Forestry, Faculty of Forestry, Bogor Agricultural University) Bengkulu University Agriculture), Effi Alfiani Sidik (Food Crop Research Center, Agricultural and Food Research Organization, National Research and Innovation Agency), Hery Widianto (Zoology Research Center, National Research and Innovation Agency), Heni Suryani (Lampung State Polytechnic Study Program, Lampung Bandar), Putri Marsya Inayah (Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University) (Jakarta State Polytechnic), Muaffan Alfaiz Wicaksono (Sriwijaya University), Henny Hendarjanti (Awareness Smallholders of Ganoderma Consortium Indonesian Oil Association), Jolyanis others (Faculty of Animal Husbandry University of Sam Ratulangi University, North Sulawesi), Elizabeth Kili (Univ. Patimura) and Wahyu Setiawan (PPS Unsri). The award was held at the closing of the event which was directly closed by the Deputy Dean of Student Affairs Faculty of Agriculture, Unsri Herpandi, S.Pi., M.Sc., accompanied by the Head of Pur-PLSO of Sriwijaya University and Chair of the Committee Prof. Dr. Ir. Siti Herlinda, M.Sc and Deputy Chair of the Committee Prof. Dr. Sofia Sandi, S.Pt., M.Sc.
